Good for beginners? Yes. Schefflera is one of the most adaptable and low-maintenance large houseplants available. It tolerates a range of light conditions, forgives inconsistent watering, and grows steadily without demanding much attention.
Safe for cats and dogs? Schefflera is toxic to pets if ingested. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs.
Light needs: Bright to medium indirect light keeps the variegation most vivid and the growth most vigorous. It tolerates lower light but the yellow-green splashes may become less defined. Avoid direct harsh sun.
Care at a glance: Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Feed monthly in spring and summer. Prune lightly to maintain a full, bushy shape. Wipe leaves occasionally to keep them glossy.
